Rio Yachts showcases Smartgyro stabilization aboard the new Sport Coupé 50 ahead of Genoa

Following its Cannes debut, the Sport Coupé 50 is heading to Genoa International Boat Show with the Smartgyro SG20 stabilizer on board.

Smartgyro, the Italian specialist in advanced gyro stabilization technology, and part of the YANMAR Group, is proud to announce the installation of its SG20 gyro stabilizer aboard the new Rio Yachts Sport Coupé 50, following the yacht's recent debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival and ahead of its appearance at the Genoa International Boat Show.

Designed by Rio Yachts as a true "World Boat", the Sport Coupé 50 has been conceived to deliver comfort, versatility and liveability across different cruising grounds, climates and seasons. Supporting this vision is the integration of the Smartgyro SG20, helping owners and guests experience greater comfort both underway and at anchor.

A Yacht Designed Around Comfort

Developed in response to evolving market demands, the Sport Coupé 50 reflects the growing interest among owners seeking a yacht that can be enjoyed throughout the year, with generous onboard living spaces and the flexibility to adapt to different cruising lifestyles.

As expectations around onboard comfort continue to grow, stabilization has become an increasingly important component of the overall ownership experience. To support this vision, Rio Yachts selected the Smartgyro SG20, a compact and high-performance stabilization system specifically engineered for yachts in this size segment.

During commissioning and sea trials, the SG20 achieved an 86% roll reduction, further contributing to the comfort and usability that define the Sport Coupé 50 concept.

The installation of the SG20 aboard the new Sport Coupé 50 further reinforces the successful collaboration between Smartgyro and Rio Yachts. Beyond this latest project, Smartgyro stabilization systems have already been successfully integrated aboard several Sport Coupé 58 yachts equipped with the larger SG40 stabilizer. During sea trials, these installations achieved roll reduction figures of up to 90%, demonstrating the effectiveness of Smartgyro technology in enhancing onboard stability and comfort.

Supported by a product range spanning from the compact SG20 to the larger SG150, Smartgyro is able to provide stabilization solutions across a significant portion of the Rio Yachts portfolio, allowing the shipyard to benefit from a consistent technology platform across multiple yacht sizes and applications.
